What A Wonderful Dog (demo)

from Demos From FAWM 2020 by TA Walker

about

29th February 2020, and the last day of the FAWM challenge... and I have four songs to come up with. Somehow managing to fight off despair and desperation, I set up the ukulele and TASCAM DP-006 digital "pocketstudio", and ended up coming up with a parody of a certain "standard" song, or specifically, a certain cover of it by a much-missed uke-toting Hawaiian...

Amazing thing here: the song concerns our dog Luna (a cavachon)... who just as I was wrapping up running through the song, chose that moment to ask to be let into the room where I was recording! I *promise* I didn't set this up... though I just had to leave it in the recording you hear here :-)

lyrics

I see eyes of black
And clouds of floof
An earnest face
That always tells truth
And I think to myself
“What a wonderful dog”

And when we go for “walkies”
In the park or on the street
The best part for our canine
Is the others that she meets
I see pals wagging tails
And sniffing rear ends
Maybe they teach me
We all need friends...
