My Little Girl

I wrote 50/90 Challenge song 21 for my wife, so it seemed only fair that I penned something for my daughter too... and here it is as song 22 :-)

One thing I've found myself doing regularly during 50/90, is going with song ideas which previously I would've abandoned for some reason (self-consciousness at the content, uncertainty at the quality, etc.). This Challenge doesn't give any room for such a luxury - the pace is such that EVERY idea has to be taken and run with, otherwise you'll fall even further behind than I already have!

I also found with this particular song, that the lyric came extremely quickly (and it may show) - everything in the song was on paper within ten minutes, as if it just poured out of me. Perhaps I was just expressing the worry that parents often have, that their children are growing up before their eyes, and whether they (the parents) are making the best use of the time that they have with the kids while they are still young. (Well, so it seems to me...)

(Technical notes: I recorded the basic demo straight to stereo - vocal and guitalele - and then felt like fleshing it out somewhat, so I loaded it into my home multitrack and added electric guitar, bass and djembe. I then found the vocal on the original demo track was a bit buried, so I recorded an extra vocal, effectively double-tracking it (albeit more sloppily than I would usually stand for).)
