about

I had in mind that song 10 would be a solo acoustic guitar number - partly for artistic reasons, but mainly because I'm still "behind schedule"!

Even that didn't quite go to plan... I couldn't record the demo last night due to other commitments, so I planned to do the job in my car at lunchtime the following day (as I do sometimes). My 6-string acoustic guitar was too big to bring, so I substituted my Yamaha guitalele - imagine me hunched over the instrument on the back seat, the Sonic Port VX wedged into the headrest in front, iPhone 6S recording the results (MicSwap Pro into AudioShare)...

...and that's what you have here, plentiful warts and all! You may hear Storm Doris blowing away in the background, as I recorded this while the wind was as its height (between 12-1pm, 23 Feb 2017).

lyrics

We nurtured love from that first spring
Internet-chatting like a champ
A dial-up connection and NetMeeting
Video sized like a postage-stamp
It made our daughter laugh today
But it was enough for us

To each other, we had to cling
When showers came, we’d only just begun
Through winter, coming back to spring
Sandwiches shared in the sun
The flowers took their time to bloom
But it was enough for us

How quickly all the years have flown
And how we long for more in store
Alternating gold and green
Each season richer than before
And at the end, for us to smile
“It was enough for us”
