This is a remake of the 13th song I wrote and demo-ed on February 26th for my wedding anniversary. It is the only track on "Homecooked" that was recorded after FAWM 2013 ended, although the original song was written and demo-ed on February 26th.
The original demo was very rough (you can hear it at
fawm.org/songs/8065/), and I wanted to record a "tidier" version for my wife on our anniversary. Ironically, I had barely more time to do so than I had during FAWM, but I think in the end, this isn't a bad demo at all... and the sentiments are heartfelt!
The 6- and 12-string acoustic guitars and vocals were recorded on my iPhone 4S (yes, really) using a TASCAM iM2 mike for the guitars, and an iU2 with Oktava MK219 condenser for the vocals, recording onto Multitrack DAW on the iPhone. I then transferred these tracks to Logic Pro on the Mac, and put together a "string quintet" arrangement (2 violins, viola, cello and double-bass) using East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra samples and my MIDI guitar.
This song is, naturally, dedicated to my wife Joy, whose love and support has made such a difference in my life - I love you! XXX
(Note: "Cheongryangri" in the lyric, refers to the area of Seoul where the church was that Joy (who is Korean) and I got married in. I confess the bit about cherry trees blossoming early for us might've been poetic licence, but... look, indulge me on our anniversary, eh? ;-) )
