about

This is a preview of a new track, inspired by the ancient road which passes through southern England (and near the town where I grew up). I hope the piece will be part of my next album project (now underway as of September 2010). I feel the sound and style of the recording is indicative of both the shift in my musical taste since the earlier recordings on this collection, and of the likely direction the new project will take.

The acoustic 12-string guitars which form the basis of the track, were recorded on the 7th June 2010 by a good friend and gifted studio engineer named Stephen Perry. Sadly, four days after we laid down these tracks, Stephen (a diabetic) was found dead in his room. I miss him greatly, and am saddened that he never got to hear this piece in its completed form. This one is for you, my friend.

If all goes well, I hope to complete and release the new album some time in 2011. Until then, I hope you like this little taste of things to come...

about

Guitarist/multi-instrumentalist and composer, with unashamedly "prog" inclinations. Influences include Anthony Phillips, ... more Phil Keaggy, Mike Oldfield, Daniel Lanois, Bill Frisell, Ralph Towner, Gordon Giltrap, etc., but will listen to anyone who can play decent guitar. (And others, too, if they're really good. Of course.) less
